Frigidaire is Ranked in the Top 10 Best HVAC Companies of 2023

US News released its list of the top HVAC Equipment Brands in 2023and Frigidaire is tied for 8th place.

Frigidaire dates back to the early 1900s when Guardian Frigerator Company began producing an electric refrigerator. Within two years, General Motors purchased the company and renamed it. Over the years, General Motors expanded the Frigidaire product line to include stoves, dishwashers, microwaves, washers, dryers, and air conditioners.

Air conditioning has always been a key segment for Frigidaire. From the 1950s through 1970s, Frigidaire produced air conditioning systems for nearly all GM cars and trucks in the United States and sold air conditioning compressors to Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, and Bentley overseas. Today, Frigidaire sells HVAC systems manufactured by Nortek Global HVAC, a company originally founded in 1919 as the International Oil Heating Company. Nortek produced the first oil and first sealed combustion furnace for manufactured housing, the first split-system air conditioner to reach a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating of 25.5, and the first residential gas/electric packaged system to reach an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating of 95%.

The Bottom Line:

While Frigidaire is closely associated with refrigerators, the company has been in the HVAC industry since it began. It sells air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, packaged terminal air conditioners (PTACs), and other HVAC systems for a reasonable price and is a good choice for those who are looking for a widely recognized HVAC brand.
