This three hour seminar will address the latest changes to the Texas lien laws. Focus will be primarily on private commercial projects. Included in the presentation will be a discussion on the various parties involved in a lien claim and their relationship to each other. You will also learn about the notice requirements for obtaining a valid lien. The specific information that must be included in any lien affidavit and an extensive discussion regarding the various timetables and deadlines will also be addressed.

Bradley H. Rice is a shareholder in the Fort Worth law firm of Decker, Jones, McMackin, McClane, Hall & Bates, P.C., which started in 1896, and serves as head of their construction law practice group. During his 30 years of practice, he has primarily handled matters in the area of business and commercial litigation, with a special emphasis in the area of construction law. Mr. Rice received his J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University. He is a member of the Construction Law and Litigation Sections of the State Bar of Texas and has served on the Council for the Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He is a member of The College of the State Bar of Texas and is a Fellow in the Texas Bar Foundation and the Tarrant County Bar Foundation. Mr. Rice has repeatedly been voted by his peers as a top attorney in the Fort Worth Magazine, Inc., in the area of construction law. He has lectured and written on construction law and related topics. Mr. Rice is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit; and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
