AC Supply is kicking off our holiday giving campaign. This November AC Supply will be collecting nonperishable foods and monetary donations for the Tarrant Area Food Bank. All four of our locations will be partcipating and with your help we hope to fill one of our trucks with nonperishable foods items.
Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) is the primary source of donated food for hunger-relief charities and feeding programs in 13 North Texas counties.
One of 6 people of all ages struggles with food insecurity and/or hunger, and one in four children come from families that live with uncertainty about where their next meal will come from. The faces of hunger in Tarrant Area Food Bank’s 13-county service region are Caucasian, Hispanic, African-American, Asian and Native American. They may be your neighbors or your work colleague. He or she may be the child in school sitting next to your son or daughter.
TAFB serves more than 50,000 individuals in a typical week and more than 53,000 households in a typical month. In one year, 146,000 households are served.
Here are some facts about people who are served by TAFB Partner Agencies:
- Over three-quarters of the households live at or below the poverty line.
- 1 of 8 people served are 60 or older.
- Two-thirds or more of all client households reported choosing between food and medical care, utilities and transportation.
- More than one-third of households reported making choices between food and other living expenses every month.
